Freshman with comm. college units?

Is there anybody who got accepted as a freshman have any tranferable college units from a Community/Junior College. What should one do in such a case?

see <a href="http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/trcredit.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/trcredit.htm</a></p>

I did - its not a problem - just have the community college you went to send your transcript to UCLA

how many transferable units did you have; and how much credit did u get?

they transfer over by a set scale. you can check out <a href="http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.assist.org/web-assist/welcome.html</a> this site to see how the units will transfer. I believe I had about 8 units transfer from the CC.

ditto icarus, i did that too. try to get your CC transcript in ASAP so that way, you can check how many units you've transferred over during orientation.

what if i don't want any credits transfered.

I'll have 16 quarter units next year transferable to UC Davis. Plus another 5 quarter units over the summer.

I'd say a good course to take over the summer at a CC before going into a UC would be an English course, that way once your a Freshman your all done with English( given you passed a Eng AP test) and don't have to mess with those long term paper nights.

Because I go to a high school with very few AP offerings, I decided to take classes at a community college this year. It's been a really good experience, and I'll have a bunch of transferable credit to take with me to UCLA.

I took six classes: Intro. to Psychology, Eastern Religions, English 4 (I believe this satisfies the Writing II requirement at UCLA), Astronomy, Cultural Anthropology and Intro. to Statistics.

The only negative thing about having these transferable credits, according to people I talked to at State Finals, is that there's a pretty harsh unit cap that UCLA students must stay under. Although AP credit isn't counted towards the unit cap, transfer credit is.

Assist.org is an excellent resource for people wanting to take a class at a community college. If a class isn't listed, however, it doesn't guarantee that the class will or won't transfer. Calling the transfer office can provide more detailed answers.

hi nobleguy
Will you be a transfer or freshman applicant for the UCs.
So, you have about 20 units (just guessing by the classes u took).
On the application did u list the comm. college.

I just e-mailed you my answer, freebird, but in case anyone else is interested:

I'm a freshmen, and I definitely listed them on my application. The admissions committee views "CL" courses the same as APs, so it should add some spice to your application.

Are you a transfer for freshmen applicant?
