Freshman Year GPA.

Hey, I want to go to a University in Florida, and my weighted GPA =.4 for honors and .8 for AP is 3.2 at the end of fresh man year. Some colleges I'm looking at are UF, UCF, FSU, UM, FIU, USF. Im really stressed because i don't think ill get into some of them, does anyone know if these colleges are forgiving of freshman year, or if I can bring it up in time for Application time. I attend a Private Prep school if that changes anything. The first semester I really slacked off, but next semester I stepped it up, and I don't ever plan on getting another C in high school , maybe a few Bs, but from here on out, I plan on working as hard as I can to bring my GPA up, and Im in a good amount of clubs, and participate in a good amount of volunteering outside of school, and I'm taking SAT classes from Freshman summer until I take it. Thanks, any advice/help/tips are appreciated.

You will be fine, don’t stress. Just keep improving slowly and a 3.2 will be fine. My freshman year I had a 3.33 and I got into multiple Top 50 schools. To be quite honest, going to a private prep school, the 3.2 paired with a good test score would actually get you into some of those schools. Obviously, you will need to increase it regardless, but just pointing out that you are not in a terrible position. By the time I was applying to colleges, I had a 3.8. There’s plenty of time, just work smarter/harder and stress less. Stress won’t do you any good.

For UF, they actually break this down for you. So look at the website to really gauge your chances.
