I’m trying to figure out what required classes to take freshman year because I am not a DA. I was thinking…
Summer:
Local CC E201 (IU will grant me credits for this class)
S1:
BUS-A 100
BUS-G 202
S2:
ENG-W 131
BUS-K 201
BUS-A 201
Is this a good path for a Kelley standard admit? I don’t plan on touching any math courses freshman year because that is my weak spot, and I will take care of that summer after freshman year or sophomore year. Also what are some easy classes to fill in the rest of my schedule with? I have to get into Kelley otherwise I need to transfer out so any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
C104 might be a better choice than W131. It has a slightly better grade distribution, but you would probably be fine either way. http://gradedistribution.registrar.indiana.edu/
As far as other classes go, you should definitely get some gen eds out of the way. If you are not coming in with any AP credit, you will need a natural science class, 2 arts and humanities classes, and some way to fulfill the world culture requirement. http://gened.indiana.edu/Students/requirements.html
You can take classes that double count for A&H and WC, so I would recommend taking one of those each semester. I took CLAS-C 101 Ancient Greek Culture and REL-A 210 Intro to the Old Testament. Both were fairly easy A’s. I would also add an easy natural science like PSY-P 101 Intro to Psychology.
Another suggestion is to take K201 first semester and K303 second semester. K303 is very easy, and there’s almost no way you wouldn’t get at least a B if you can get at least a B in K201.
The only reason I didn’t have K201 in the first semester is because I heard it’s very difficult to take A100 and K201 in the same semester. Thank you for all the great advice.
I don’t think it would be a problem to take A100 with K201, but it’s your call. You learn about Microsoft Access in roughly the first 8 weeks of K201, and Excel in the last weeks. Most students find Excel easier, so you might want to take A100 2nd 8 weeks if you take them together and are worried about it. Let me know if you have any other questions.
