Freshmen and Sophs taking AP classes

Last year (9th grade) the girl who took AP Chem got a 5, so I don't think underclassmen are more likely to get lower schools. It all depends on the student.

I'm a soph, Ap Bio and AP euro, last year took the ap world exam got a 2, pretty easy and you can self study for it!
I could taken ap psyc but didn't get a chance to sign up, I also could of taken ap calc if i took trig over the summer.

So if I was really nerdy I would take 4 AP's then my spanish class english

As a sophomore: Spanish IV (4) and US History (5)
US History is the student body's introduction into the world of AP.

I don't think it's the best introduction. It's the same at our school.

AP Psychology and AP Art Studio would be better introductions :D .

AP Stats is the only course taken by underclassmen at my school.

My school only allows senior to take AP's.....yea I know

I took AP Euro as a sophomore, and one of my friends took AP Bio as a sophomore.

Not unusual at my high school for a sophomore to take a few AP classes. Usually the classes are humanities or science - AP Bio, AP Euro, Micro AP, Euro AP, Psych AP......

ya im a freshmen and as a soph, i'll only b able to take AP Calc AB and AP U.S History

I think that taking AP's as underclassmen is dumb. in my opinion it shound only be offeed to uperclassmen. The pressue that is put on students to get into college is ridiculous. Kids have to learn how the calm down and have some fun in high school. It's over achievers that make everyone skeptical about getting into college

Sophomore here. Four APs taken (all fives): Physics B, Biology, Computer Science A, Calculus BC. That doesn't sound like taking them as a freshman hurt my score too much. ;) Am taking Computer Science AB, English Literature, Chemistry and World History this year. All of those took a good bit of work to get into, though.

Most underclassman at take a maximum of four APs between freshman and sophmore year: Biology, World History, Computer Science A, Computer Science AB.

Plenty of people at my school take four or five APs in tenth grade. I personally took six in 10th and two in 9th.

at mine there is 1-3 APs u can take sophomore and only pre-ap in 9th grade

I don't think it's ridiculous taking AP classes in ninth or tenth grade. It is, if you're only taking them for getting into college, but it isn't if you're taking them because you'd legitamately be bored in other classes.

Yeah, same here. i got out of my boring, easy 4th period elective (sociology) for AP World history- i dont regret it. even though i m doing more work just to earn a B+ which is weighted the same as an A+, if i took the easy class.

I'd be insanely board if I was using a high school history textbook - I've looked at them, they seem really basic. As it is, I'm doing college level history courses in one semester. (I do independant study).

Guys, don't listen to bassmaster, he has been known to lie about everything, once he said that he did all the APs.

Also Fizix, you didn't do any APs freshmen year.

here;

ONE AP? IN YOUR JUNIOR/SENIOR YEAR? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=3198903#post3198903

More power to ya, fizix. I know plenty of people who might take 1 AP in their entire high school career and get into great colleges.

Jeez, Masterus, you like doing background checks, don't you?

When I was a fresh and soph, AP Micro and Macro economics were offered only to 9th and 10th graders, Micro as a quarter, Macro as a semester. However, this has since been changed: macro is now the only AP available to freshmen and it's now a quarter. Micro is now a semester and available in 10-12. I'm guessing that scores were too low to justify AP's in 9-10.

Heh. I'm probably going to have only one AP junior year. And it's not really going to be an AP...

But I'll have lots of college level courses, which my transcript will indicate, so I think I'll be alright.
