Those US News figures are over 2-3 years old at least...they haven't changed in years, either NYU or US News is lazy when it comes to addressing this. Either way, those stats are not very reliable.

Mattistotle,

You appear to be a competitive applicant. Unless your essay was a complete joke, you should have a great chance, and a less than perfect essay shouldn't hurt you.

matti has a really good shot :) even i can see that. :)

KJ:

The School of Social Work is generally much less competitive than the rest of NYU, but its very small and its almost nonexistant...in my 4 years there I didn't even meet one person from the social work school. So while its easier than the rest of NYU, the fact is that competitivness could drastically vary from year to year since the school only takes only 20 people a year, it just depends on who applies. So, you should hope the super brilliant don't want to go into the social work school.

thank you jwblue...

yes, i worry that many brilliant kids might have applied to it this year...
however, social work is what i really want to pursue as my future career and i do have a passion for it.

however, what do you think about the question i asked you? regarding the NYU bulletin board...

Kjayon,

I honestly have no idea why they haven't answered your questions.

They may be just very busy right now with so many people applying. If you didn't get in, they would still answer your questions...I doubt they will single you out in that manner just to ignore you, its a blog at the end of the day. Furthermore, the board admin. on the web site may not even know how the adm. cmte. ruled on your app. I wouldn't lose any sleep over stuff that happens (or in your case doesn't) on the NYU web forum.

You can always call the school to have your inquiries addressed.

yes but what intrigues me is that the person whom i have been contacting e-mailed me personally saying that she would like to answer my question via e-mail. she is i think from the social work committee

but my question was never posted.

K.J. -

It does seem odd...I'll give you that. Maybe they just forgot about it with being so busy with everything else and all. I would just try calling again.

yes and when i called her and mentioned myself as "hi this is jason" and she quickly recognized me. i hope i wasn't being made fun of during the app process and that the whole admissions know about me..

she then answered my second question...this is just few days ago after the first question was answered via e-mail. she answered my question, this time, by phone...

well....i hope....this isn't that bad as it seems...

but when i posted questions on other secions other than social work, they were posted and answered

Don't be so worried about tiniest of things like this...whatever happens--happens.

Good luck.

lol yea but when you have such low stats, it's not that easy

Wow sorry if I scared you guys. For Klayson the school of social work is very small and like jwblue I have met only a couple of people in it. That could be good or bad depending on the applicants. For the rest of you don't worry. Your applications are in the decisions are made. Despite this being the best class on paper that NYU has ever accepted they I assure you that they still accepted a number of people below these numbers. I for one was below the average gpa and sat but wrote a killer essay (in my opinion) and was accepted. Almost everyone that I talked to was compettiitve and for those of you who get in get ready, it is going to be a great year.
Good Luck

wow- is it really one of the best NYU classes? in what way? hmm i wonder if the admittance rate is the same, cuz most of my friends who applied got in
