Freshmen dorms

Which residence halls are mostly freshmen?

Eigenmann. Larger rooms than most other dorms.

Also, how do the costs vary and what’s been the history of increases?

Hi. I got direct admit to kelley a couple weeks back. I wanted to know about dorms too. Can someone help out?

@110085 most people in Kelley live in one of the dorms in northwest. Typically McNutt, Briscoe, or Foster as Hodge Hall is very close to those dorms. Also, apply to the Kelley Living Learning Center (KLLC) which is in McNutt.

@ohiovalley16 the costs and features for each residence hall can be found on the RPS website: http://www.rps.indiana.edu/housing.cfml

@kingsta I wouldn’t say that any dorm is mostly freshmen. The enhanced housing options are mostly upperclassmen: briscoe & willkie. Spruce which is also enhanced seems to be a mixture. Typically Willkie is reserved for upperclassmen but this year certain floors were set aside for freshmen as IU accepted its largest freshman class yet.

My son is a first year freshman in Eigenmann. He would do anything to live in the Northwest and get out of Eigenmann. Yes, his room is larger, but he feel far from everything. He is a Kelly DA. I would recommend that you apply for housing ASAP. Do not wait to see if that is where you want to go.

Thanks @tola2015 , I’m still interested in the history of increases and maybe future construction / renovation plans … Things that aren’t on the Web site.

@ohiovalley16 some parts of Read residence hall are currently being renovated. And I hear that they will be renovating other parts next school year to possibly add air conditioning. I don’t know anything about the history of increases, sorry.

Wright - You get what you pay for. Mostly freshmen.
Read - Another “value menu” dorm. Lots of Jacobs kids, too.
Ashton - Single rooms only. Not an overwhelming amount of freshman.
Teter - Many sophomores and freshman. A step up from Wright.
Eigenmann - Freshman with a little more money go here.
Forest - Some Freshman go here, killer food court.
Wilkie - Mostly upper classmen.
McNutt - Party Dorm. Plenty of Kelly kids and frat star aspirees.
Briscoe - Student athletes, kids with wealthy parents.
Rose - Brand new. Expensive. Free laundry.
Foster - I don’t know much about this place, except the food sucks.
Collins - Awesome food. Residents are artsy, strange. Mostly smart, though.
