ok! many/most of the facebook kids are NOT honors … so it is not a whole lot of help.

i will look at the UA roommate finder … but we don’t get the login info for that until monday.

i just want her to get pulled in. from the way it sounds it is already very full (unless rooms are being held back, which is possible, i guess.)

Mike, there should be rooms held back for those honors kids for one reason – you do not have to give a decision to a college that you will enroll in the fall until May 1. Also, make sure you look for your regional admissions rep’s Facebook page. Perhaps your daughter can find someone in Honors there who will pull her in.

Don’t fret, Mike. After May 1, there will probably be spaces available in honors. I don’t know what’s going on with the girls, but I know of a couple of guys in different friends’ suites who are on the fence between Bama and other schools. Our friends who were lacking a spot for one friend were able to find a totally empty suite in Ridgecrest last week and put the four of them in together. So that freed up three spaces in Riverside West that became available for other honors kids. I’m sure once kids start withdrawing their admission, space will become available.

Does anyone know when the next date is that housing selection is available? If I’m correct, anyone who has already chosen can go in at that time and do room swap, pull people in, change rooms, whatever.

I agree, the Facebook thing was no help for us, as it was mostly non honors kids. We did have a little luck with roommate finder and found one roommate. Just recently checked it, as we may have two vacant spots soon, and found a few more matches were added for son. So definitely get on that roommate finder once you get your code on Monday. If you don’t get a code, email Ms. Morris right away. She was very prompt in sending our code when we requested it.

Before the earliest picking times, the school must initially split the number of suites to be designated “female” or “male” - otherwise they would run the risk of having too many single males (or single females) choosing empty suites and then those suites would be come male (or female) only - leaving not enough suites for the other sex.

So, when a male logs on to pick his suite, only half are available (to him) from the beginning.

I wonder how they split them - I don’t think it’s every other room because I think my sons have had males next door to them. Is it males on one side of a hallway, and females on the other? I know it’s not split by wings.

I don’t think it goes opposite sides as my son said the suite next to his is female. But going by his options during room selection it wasn’t every other room either. I guess it’s like mom said. They throw darts :-)
