Does cornell use freshmen GPA when calculating the overall GPA? I know many schools don't and I couldn't find info about it elsewhere.

Umm... the freshman year IS part of your overall college career ;)

EDIT: Wait a sec, are you talking about HS GPA for purposes of admission?

Yes, Cornell considers your high school freshmen year.

lol freshman high school is when one takes most of the prereqs to get into cornell lol...english I, bio, algebra...why wouldnt they count it?

duh duh duhhhh

many others schools do not count it (such as princeton). That is why I was wondering (actually hoping that they didn't) count freshman grades. But thanks for answering my question.

most high schoolers are worried about their last 2 years of high school...not their first :<

Actually, I was more worried about my freshman gpa since I didn't pay any attention to my studies freshman year. I'm not sure if Cornell, like Priceton, does not look at your freshman gpa, but I think they wouldn't weight on it too much if you have a significant upward trend.

Princeton considers your high school freshman year grades. They will not "count" as heavily at either Princeton or Cornell or elsewhere as junior and sophomore years, but they are certainly used and evaluated.

they consider them, but when calculating GPA princeton does not use freshmen grades. Also fd36 in my school you take Bio in 10th grade

Kirby to the rescue! (>'o')>

does cornell take into account +s and -s or do they just care about the letter grade? (for example, are an A+,A, and A- equivalent (4.0)?) Is there any difference between a B- and a B+?
