Freshmen Guide to UM and Ross Admissions

Hey gottagonow,

Ross only has one study abroad program and it is more of a 3-week expedition to either China, Central America, or Europe. It’s a class and taken for credit. (More info - look on page 21 here - http://www.bus.umich.edu/pdf/bbabulletin.pdf</a>).

They were looking at adding more but I’m not sure what their progress is.

I personally am looking for something during the summer for both sophomore and junior year in regards to study abroad, which is something I have really wanted to do in college. It’s kind of frustrating that Ross doesn’t offer a more intensive program, but you can still go a semester abroad and then come back and graduate a semester late. I’m pretty sure you can’t do it without graduating late, but if you talk to the advisors they may be able to make magic happen (I’m going to see what my opinions are this coming fall). Also there is always the option of doing an internship abroad which I know many people are doing.

The lack of comprehensive program is kind of a pain, but my view on the B-school hasn’t really changed all that much, and it is definitely not a reason to not enroll, you just have to be a little more creative.

Will B+ in Econ 101 hurt my chances for Ross? Do most students accepted to Ross get A or A- in 101?

No, you’ll be fine michfield. A B+ is strong.
