Freshmen Moving in

Does anyone know when Freshmen move in? Is it a week before school starts, because I haven't heard anything from the school regarding the move in date for freshmen, and I kind of want to book hotels/airplane tickets now..

If anyone could shed some light on this or if there were previous freshmen that have experience w/ the matter, that would be most appreciated

August 19th for most, unless your in a learning program, which is the 17th. If you’re in Certified Private Housing, they can have their own move in dates. I understand that if you need to move in prior to the 19th and you’re in University dorms, you can for an additional $50 per day, but I’m not sure how many days prior to normal move in they will allow you to do so, They very much “strongly encourage” you to move in during your scheduled move in time.

Thanks for the response Balthezar,

I’m a bit confused with the 50$ addition per day thing - what exactly is that paying for…? Also, have they released a scheduled move in time for new students yet? I recently moved houses so a lot of mail has been stacking up in the post office due to the address switch.

Thanks again

I’m a freshman too. Normal move in date for university housing is the 19th of August, LLCs move in on the 17th, You can move into your dorm early from the 15th for $50 a day, any earlier and you have to temporarily stay at FAR.

Here’s the website about moving in:
[Move-in Day | University Housing at Illinois](http://www.housing.illinois.edu/Housing/Future/Incoming/Move-in%20Day.aspx)

They try to reduce the amount of students moving in early and the $50 per day refers to the days before your scheduled move-in day. Some international students need to move in early due to flights or other reasons and they are charged $50 per number of days they moved in early. I guess it pays for services like A/C, water, electricity, etc. that they use those days.
