What time do I need to be on campus on move-in day? Can I arrive at any time on Aug 21? I can't seem to find it on the website.

u can move in early but it'll cost u

I know that moving in before August 21 costs money, but im not doing that. I'm asking what TIME do I need to be on campus on August 21, the regular move-in day.

u can be there at ANY time. u can move in the day before classes if u want to.

ah ok, thank you.

Also, just so I dont come off as being cheap, how much is a good tip for the I-Guide(s) that help me move my stuff?

Do Not Tip! they will get in trouble...well...as much as a volunteer CAN get in trouble

Eh? In one of the moving-in videos, (i cant remember if it was the 2008 or 2007 one)they specifically asked us to tip the i-guides if they do a good job because "they work very hard" or something like that, which im sure they do.

Tip the I-Guides? For what? I mean if you're a freshman, they just help you out as far as telling you what to do, where to go, getting your keys, etc..

It's really not difficult. You go to the front lobby at the check-in area, ask for your key, ask for a cart, and put your items on the cart and wheel it in to the elevator and take it to your room.

Anyways, those I-guides don't deserve tips, an 8 year old would be able to direct people the same way. They are simply volunteers.

They work hard? If that's what you call hard work, then you're in for a rude awakening.

i don't know what hall u lived in, but the i-guides are supposed to take the carts to your car, help load it, and move it to ur room......if they told u to do it yourself it's probably b/c u ****ed them off

Wow they load the carts? Well, I think people who can't put the stuff on the carts themselves are lazy. Didn't those same people have to put all their stuff in the car? Who needs some I-guide moron looking to try to pad their resume with some "fake" volunteering when you are plenty capable to take the stuff out of your car yourself.

People like that only do the I-guide stuff to make themselves look superior when in reality, that sort of thing is not even something of any real consequence in the big scheme of things. Just like those people who think they have to volunteer hundreds of hours in high school when they never had to. They don't do it b/c they want to, they do it b/c they think it makes them look better.

People volunteer as I-guides so they can move in early without paying $50/night for the privilege--especially with this year's crappy move-in schedule. This year, only the I-guides will be allowed to handle the carts and utilize the elevators (students and parents moving in will not even be allowed on the elevators even if the i-guide has all their stuff).

Room check-in starts as early as 8AM, but you don't have to be there at 8AM. I've seen people moving in at 10PM--just don't expect anyone to still be around to help you move things.

8 am? really? I finally found something on the housing website and it says not to arrive prior to 9 am. "In order to allow as many employees and community members to arrive at work without undue inconvenience, students and their parents are asked not to arrive on campus prior to 9am."

Im getting alot of conflicting information and its confusing me. :(

I too recall 9 AM, but not I can't seem to locate exactly where I read that information.

its here. Campus Move-In Day

All I know is they've got the I-guides starting at 8AM...probably cause no matter how nicely they ask, people will still show up before 9AM to "beat the rush." Pretty much, no matter when you show up, it will be crowded and annoying and take more time than you wish it would.
