Wow guys whats with all the hostility against the high school freshmen and sophomores on here. I'm thinking its a bit hypocritical seeing as the people telling them to get off the forum are the same college freshmen asking about grad school / careers.

It is not too different of a situation. After all, high school grades extracurriculars (not to mention parental stress) are in preparation for college so why shouldn't they see what is important and what isn't. And whether they should even try....

In my first two years of HS all I cared about was getting laid. THOSE were the forums i posted in. i had none of the academic drive i see from these kids. So I commend them for actually caring about their lives ... good job guys

Although I wished college admissions wasn't such a rat race, I think coming here as a HS junior may be too late to benefit from a lot of the useful information found here. I have read several posts from students who log on as juniors or seniors and are shocked to see how competitive admissions are and how they wished they had done things differently. I think the problem with frosh/sophs posting is when they start doing "chances" posts and worrying that getting an A- will keep them out of a decent college. Seeking information is good. Driving self crazy is bad.

There's nothing wrong with having an academic drive, but CC is made up of a bunch of neurotic overachievers (myself included). It's not healthy to focus entirely on academics either like this site might encourage someone to do; to forget a little bit that they're still underclassmen in high school and that it's not good to stress too much about these things.
