sophomores on cc?

i've been lurking here for a while, but i had some doubts about signing up since i'm only a sophomore. i guess i'm young enough for this to be irrelevant, but in some way i find it comforting to have some idea of what i'll be getting into. i also get restless easily, and it's always fun to daydream.

so are there any other sophomores around here? as for parents, seniors, whoever -- do you have any suggestions for people who start their research early?

really.to tell you the truth..nearing the junior year is when ppl should really come here. During soph and junior year, you should focus on ur studies and not worry about college till end of the gruesome junior year. Starting early is ok as long as your school work is going fine.

i agree that it's foolish to neglect your schoolwork, not to mention delusional, but if anything researching the admissions process has only made me more aware of how much my gpa counts in admissions. i have a 6.0 on the ib scale of 1 to 7 (roughly equivalent to a 3.7 unweighted) and i'm working on raising it, so i think it's fine.

hello...Im a sophomore on CC. its tough being one of us! definitely get a lot of critics, but I agree, it is nice to know what I will be getting into in two years. i cant wait to go to college and its great to know what my options are. Im going to bump this post because i would also like to no what other sophomore are out there!

hey superstarr ... i'm glad it's not just me. i don't really see the point of criticizing people who want to start thinking about college early. in my mind it's only an extension of the classic "what do you want to be when you grow up?" if anything, i think this will help me when i finally do apply to college, because i'll have a sense of direction instead of getting lost in all the paperwork.

another reason is that since i'm only a temporary resident my parents don't know anything about the american system, which means that it's up to me to figure out how everything works. i'm a diplomat kid and a swedish citizen, but i've lived in the us for four years and will possibly/probably go to college here.

what schools/majors are you thinking about?

i'm glad it's not just me. i don't really see the point of criticizing people who want to start thinking about college early.

people who criticize you are mostly made up of people who regret that they couldn't have thought about the college process earlier. Have pity.

i would love to study political science, social work, and law. A female politician with a background in law and social work! crazy thinking. before i started coming to CC i knew nothing really about colleges. I knew the most well known but not much else. now I have a great list of matches, reaches, and safeties...all schools that i would love to go to. i am years ahead of my friends and know exactly how to get to where i want to be. i love planning ahead and this is an important aspect of my life, and I can't really see why planning ahead is worthy of criticism. what are you planning on studying?

You only need to look at the questions on theis board that ask if their freshmen and sophmore years will be overlooked to know planning early is a good thing.

exactly. and i hate when people say not to base my life around getting into college. i definitely dont do this and its frustrating when people criticize me for this. because i really love everything i do, and i do other things that i dont list when i post my stats. im not going to post the concerts i go to, movies i see, etc. and i really dont think sophomore is too early. everything is factored in, and i you start earlier, you wont have to worry much about this.

Sophomore here. This site definently made me more intent on keeping up good grades & actually studying for standardized tests.

i want to be an english major, which i guess is pretty unexpected considering that english is my third language (after swedish and french). after that i'd like to work in book publishing, ideally becoming editor-in-chief at a prestigious publishing house. well, a girl can dream.

as for schools, i've obviously considered ivies, because i'm ambitious sometimes to the point of pretense ... realistically, i know i want to go somewhere in or near a city with a strong english program, but i haven't worked out the specifics.

my main choices right now (in no particular order)...amherst, sarah lawrence, reed, NYU, boston C, uchicago, wesleyan, georgetown, george washington, swarthmore...umm thats all i can think of for now...but yeah. I want something political, urban/suburban, small-medium, intellectual, artsy, eclectic, selective, good liberal arts, near a great big city. i considered ivies but i dont really want to go to any of them. great schools but personally...not what i want. (its great to know about these schools, ivies, etc. at this time...and not be frantically trying to figure this out junior or senior year!)

I am also a high school underclassman! Superstarr567, I love your favorites! My list right now includes Smith, Wesleyan, Swarthmore, Carleton, Oberlin, Reed, Lewis and Clark, and Scripps.
