Freshmen Orientation

Does Cal have the same style of Frosh orientation (with orientation staggered in the summer time like UCLA) or is it the week before school starts?

Secondly, when does school start? when does the orientation start?

In addition to that...when do semesters start? midterms? breaks?
~Info Appreciated :)

for me..there are only two times for orientation b/c i'm in the college of chemistry..june 13,14 and june 24,25 which only gives me one choice b/c my graduation is june 24th

How about for L&S?

(Where do you find this info?)

Okay, found out that school starts August 29, and Welcome Week is August 22.

Yet, no answer to the orientation in summer time.

here is the site with information on calso http://calso.berkeley.edu/Content/Welcome.html

Thank you so much!!!

ya...june 24th...reallly really sucks!!

Skip school for an early one. Trust me, you'll want to. You'll get a better pick of classes.

ugh. so are we totally screwed with classes if we can't go at all to the orientation? how important is orientation, like.. do you end up meeting a lot of people there and stuff?

Well, you aren't screwed. You'll just be more limited by what classes you can take because the ones intended for Froshes fill up. Otherwise, you'll be chill. Don't worry about it and just go have fun. CalSO is a bunch of hokum and pretty smoke, but it's still fun. Just gets you ready to dive right into the nitty-gritty a week or two after classes start, cuz that's when Cal gets intense.
