Friend got a 27 on ACT.. (angry!)

My friend thinks he's such a genius now that he got a 27, which I'm pretty sure he cheated to get considering he got about a 1000 SAT and a 21 the first time he took it...

He had like a 2.5 UW or worse freshman year, probably around a 2.8-3.1 UW sophomore year transferred halfway through because he couldn't handle the course load at my "school for the gifted", goes to a normal public school and takes the biggest joke schedule and has like a 3.4 UW (around a 3.6 W).. And I know for a fact he's gotten Ds in classes and retaken them because he says they take the higher one if you get below a C.

No ECs at all, no jobs, no nothing really, and probably doesn't have the ability to write a good essay unless he pays someone too..

Sorry this just really frustrates me. What sort of schools do you think he could get in? (he's saying Northeastern or UC- Boulder is where he wants to go..)

Why in the world do you care?

If he’s your friend, why are you upset? You should be happy for him.

If he really is your friend, you should be happy for him. Why would you be mad even if you didn’t like the kid? I can careless what kids I hate get on grades, unless they a higher grade then me. You shouldn’t care what college he goes too either!

friend = friend

or friend = kid you know?

if he really sucks then he’s not going to get good reccs.

He thinks he’s a genius for getting a 27? Damn, his school must really suck.

Sounds like somebody’s jealous of a 27 lol. Who cares dude? It’s a stupid test score! Do you think he does not deserve to get a decent score on a test because his grades / ECs are mediocre?

Considering your tone here, you don’t seem like a very good friend to me. You should be happy for him, not venting on CC.

Ok bud. You’ve vented, now it’s time to get back to work and figure out your own plan.

By the way, if you can’t appreciate the successes that others have in their life, you are not likely to experience your own. Now’s the time to learn this lesson and make a change before you’re 30 and wondering why life keeps kicking you in the teeth.

Some much for “friendship”. Aren’t friends supposed to think highly of each other, support each other and be happy for each other when good things happen to them?

At any rate dpc1192, your “friend” has a good shot at Northeastern and Colorado-Boulder. He also has a shot at other good universities, such as Indiana-Bloomington, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State etc…

Those schools would be matches for him with his current Sophomore/Junior GPA (over 3.0 unweighed) and ACT (27). They don’t really care about ECs and jobs. Of course, they can help, but not having them will not hurt too much. If he applies on time and writes decent essays, he ahs a decent chance of getting in.

If he thinks he’s a genius with a 27, what does he call those students who get a 36???

Perhaps bcos the OP, who attends a “school for the gifted,” only scored a 29?
