From CC to Uconn

(I posted this in what are my chances thread not knowing this forum existed, so this is a re-post into a different forum, I also got some numbers wrong, so I updated my actual GPAs on this thread and I also updated some more info)

Hello,

I am a Comm Coll student now with a 3.14 GPA, and I was wondering what my chances of getting into Uconn's accounting program is.

My first semester's GPA was 2.7ish(taking 4 classes), second was 3.6ish (taking 5 more advanced classes),
To be honest it was purely out of laziness and partying, but I still have 2 more semesters to go to bump it up to a 3.3.

But lets assume I get a 3.25(worst case scenario to me) because the classes are harder, what will my chances at Uconn's accounting program be then? Should I just apply to be an Econ major(school of liberal arts) or general business degree then switch to accounting after one semester and some good grades? Will my chances be increased by me applying as a general business or Econ student?

I was born in Israel so I am foreign born and my accounting teacher as well as the professor who is the head of the business department at my school offered to write me a great letter of recommendation.I also have had a full time job since 2012 if that helps any. I'm not apart of any clubs, but my accounting teacher wants me to join business club, would it look tacky if I joined a couple months before applying for transfer?

Thanks for the tips!

Does your cc has articulation agreement with UConn? If so, try to find out the minimum requirement from there. As I can see, you are a boarder line case, you may have a 50-50 chance. Join the club, at least you show you have tried.

Yeah my CC does have an articulation agreement, but at first I just wanted an associates and be done with school, so I did not sign up for it, now it is too late since I have too many credits.

The GPA needed to guarantee transfer in the articulation agreement to Uconn is a 3.0, and I have well into that, but I am still not so sure…

No one can answer you other than uconn

Yeah that’s what I figured.
Talking to some other people who transferred my chances are 50/50, but it was worth a shot asking here.

Its not the end of the world if I don’t get in, I have good enough grades to get into a regional state school, and accounting is pretty standard throughout different colleges so in the long term I’ll be fine as long as I put in work.

Thanks.
