From Hitch to Halls.....

I'm desperately trying to switch my rooming from Hitch suites (triple) to any sort of rooming in the residential halls. I've already emailed UCLA about it once, but they havent given me a response.

How can I best expose my wish to change rooming? Should I call? Another email? Hitch is too anti-social for me, and I dont think my legs can endure the hikes.

Thank you

you can try submitting a CAR (change of assignment request), but I doubt it'll go through. That's probably the best you can do; there might be a better way, but none that I know of. gluck.

you're probably stuck in hitch, which really isnt the end of the world, considering its going to be 75% freshmen next year.

there might still be a chance. just still submit your CAR app
it shouldnt really take you long and its worth the shot

the deadline is july 13th so you should get started on it

I actually enjoyed Hitch.

allena: what did you think of hitch socially? i understand freshmen year as a hectic but very social and fast paced life in the residential halls, one reason i wanted to switch.

I'm in the same situation as the OP.

Is the CAR binding though? On the site it says.. "Any combination of the changes you selected may be made. Once the change is completed, it is final and cannot be changed back to the original assignment."(For instance, if I get my 3rd choice, can I still reject the offer?)

Hi ChanX :P

I was a freshmen in hitch. was it harder socially? definately. i didn't even know my next door neighbors. but in return you get a lot of extra space and quiet. being a freshmen in hitch you need to make friends in other ways besides dorms (unless you are friends with your room/suitemates). BUT this may change this year, as hitch will be 75% freshmen, and freshmen love to meet each other.
