My dream school is UVa. While I got denied for my first year, I still have options, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the following:

Either attend Texas Christian University and transfer, or attend Richard Bland College (its a william and mary sister school in Petersburg) and transfer. If, for example, I maintained a good GPA at either school, which do you think would have a better chance as a transfer?

TCU being a University, might have a little more clout, but RBC is a William and Mary school which would land me in Virginia at least, maybe worth more for a transfer student.

Also, is there any way to transfer to UVa mid-year?

Well, I would never make a decision to go to a college based on that aspect - pick a college you think fits you and that youll learn comfortably.

However, I attend CVCC(central virginia community college) and know that we have a guaranteed admission articulation with UVa. Basically, it states if you meet some course requirements, get an associates degree, and get a 3.4 - youre in UVA automatilcally. Therfore, I would suggest going to a vccs school and doing very well.

I just applied to uva - im SGA pres with a 3.8 gpa. I hope ill get in!

Oh, and you can transfer to uva in the spring, but only for nursing school and the school of arts & sciences.

So you're saying that I can attend CVCC this fall and, if all goes well, transfer to UVa in the spring for the College of Arts and Sciences (history major!)? If thats the case, I think I'll go for it over TCU and RBC anyway. How would you evaluate the school? How is the campus experience, etc...

Thanks for your help ahead of time, this might well be the rout I take.

Route 1) Go to CVCC this fall, stay there for 2 years, complete all the guaranteed requirements and transfer to UVA.

Route 2) Go to CVCC this fall, stay there for 1 year, and transfer (not under the guaranteed requirements, since you wouldn't have finished them in 1 year.)

Route 3) Go to Richard Bland or TCU and transfer after 1 year.

Route 4) Go to Richard Bland or TCU and transfer after 2 years.

Fall transferring is easier than Spring transferring. Instate transferring is easier than Out-Of-State transferring.

Well if your JUST starting college, I highly suggest that you go to a community college, then transfer. You save A LOT of money and you are guaranteed admissions. Northern Virginia community College also has and articulation agreement with the college of liberal arts and sciences, if you get an associates in liberal arts with a 3.4 you are automatically admitted.

If your already in college, check and see if you can transfer to a community college and see if the courses transfer as a curriculum to the associates they have at that community college. But the safest way to get into UVa (Liberal Arts and Sciences School), is through a community college.

sudstar pretty much sumed it up - the only absolute gaurantee is to go under the articulation agreement (its on their website). You dont have to go to CVCC, you can go to any community college in virginia.
