From UC Irvine to Community College?

I am sophomore at UC Irvine who did poorly my first year. I obtained a 1.87 GPA and therefore lost eligibility to any financial aid. For the past month I have been trying to obtain a private student loan to try to pay off this year, but none of my close family members turned out to be good cosigners so now I have been notified that I will get loss of student if I do not pay my tuition. I have no other choice but try and go back to community college. I just have a few questions.

Will my GPA carry to the community college? meaning that I will not be able to receive financial aid there either? Also do you think there is a way to transfer back to UC Irvine or just any other UC? Or will it be impossible because will consider my UC GPA?

Anyone? :o

Make an appt with a counselor in the financial aid office of the CC you are considering. They can explain your aid situation.

As for Irvine, you will not be applying for transfer admission, you are applying for readmission. Since it sounds like you are still a student at UCI, I suggest you set up a meeting immediately with a counselor to discuss your options regarding readmission down the road. Meeting with a counselor – that’s the advice they give at http://www.humanities.uci.edu/undergrad/current/wr.php

I don’t know the rules about what you do if you decide you want to go to a different UC campus after the CC. Ask when you meet with the counselor at UCI.

Best of luck to you.
