HA No sense of community? Whether your hate or love Georgetown, you have to admit that the people around you have such a sense of community it’s almost cult like. I run into alumni and within 5 minutes, we’ve delved into long conversations about Georgetown. The campus is only 100 acres. We have only one cafeteria. One main library. You can’t help but see the same people every single day… and all you have to do if watch a Georgetown basketball game on TV and see/hear the fans going crazy with each other to see how unified we are here. All it takes is stepping outside of your dorm every now and then (which, honestly, some people just don’t do).

As far as the original poster’s question…

Define “taught by TAs”? The only class where I’ve not had someone with a PhD following the syllabus was my language class. First lesson that I had to learn the hard way… when you go to college, visit your professor’s office hours. You will only be “taught by the TA” if you never make the effort to do otherwise. Just how it works until you get into upper level courses.

About dorms… there is one absolutely terrible freshman dorm. And most people you talk to will say that it brought them closer together. I loved my dorm, personally. But I only had to live in a dorm one year, much like many other students I know here… after freshman year, Georgetown allows you to move into apartments on campus or townhouses (that it owns) off campus.

Grades… all depends on your major/classes you take. That’s anywhere. If you’re taking classes like Orgo, don’t expect to make straight As, obviously. But you should be coming here to be challenged, anyway.
