Frustrated with SAT score...

Hey guys, I just recently took the PSAT (which I thought I did alright on) and received a 207. I took the SAT (which I THOUGHT I did great on) in December but only got a 1880. I am severely disappointed as I want to get into Georgetown. I have a 32 on the ACT but am confused as to why my grade was so low on the SAT. Did they have a harsher curve than usual? Ugh, I guess I have to take this thing again...

i thought i got around 2100-2200 on my sat and got a 1840 lol im so ****ed off I think i must have completely misbubbled a lot

Same. I got a 202 on the PSAT and an 1890. My friend who is super smart, with a 225 PSAT got a 1970. I don’t know what happened! So disappointed.

That’s really weird. Maybe it was a fluke, go ahead and try it again in January and don’t worry. It’s probably a mistake on your part or the CollegeBoard’s part. probably on yours.

That’s weird, but your ACT is worth around 2150-2200 on the SAT, which is awesome. I got a 1990 my first time and got a 2150 a few months later without studying. Sometimes a few mistakes make all the difference.

I mean, I went from a 170 PSAT to a 2050 SAT but the reason is I didn’t give a damn and wasn’t motivated on my PSAT at all.

I disagree with the previous post – that you should retake it in January. SAT scores are rarely “flukes”. It not good practice to take the SAT multiple times without an assurance that you are much better prepared that “next” time. Georgetown, in particular, requires that you submit all your test scores, and retrying multiple time doesn’t help your application.

There’s no such thing as a harsh curve. Test scores are normalized with incredible accuracy by the College Board.

Methodically go through practice tests. Find your gaps. Address them. There’s lots of advise on how to prepare effectively on this board and elsewhere.

Then take the next test when you’re really ready. Late is okay. Certainly June, and even October.

Wow worked out completely opposite for me. Really strange. 193 on PSAT a month and a half before the december test, and a 2290 on the december.

Fog city: You’re living in the dark ages, bro. We have something called scorechoice now. He can send only the scores he wants to Georgetown. And bubbling errors/misreading questions could account for it.

The best advice: Give it another go in January, if you get an ~18XX again, then you’re going to want to prep.

Also, @Fogcity even if Georgetown ‘requires’ all scores, he can still elect to send only the ones he wants to as I’ve seen many people do. Georgetown won’t know a thing.
