Hi,
I’ve finished my pre-registration for the upcoming high school senior year. As I read through the “what are my chances” entries at CC, somewhat I feel like I have less chance. As I plan to apply for BU School of Hospitality, I wonder if everyone who applies like them are ALL who enrolled for 7 aps, 4.5GPA+, so many ECS, and great SAT scores. I’m frustrated. From the BU Class of 2007 Profile phamplet that I received, only 52 freshmen got into the School of Hospitality. Does that supposed to be bad? Or the school isn’t great? Even Cornell Hotel School sound easier in that way, because their SAT requirement is lowest in their school. I heard some people got in at around 1100.

For my senior year, I’m taking AP Literature (first AP), Physics, Marine Science, Japanese 4, Band 4, and Newswriting. Do I look like I have some chance? 3.3 -> 3.7 -> 3.8 GPA (9th - 11th) I did 150 hours of volunteering, and is still doing it every sunday. Hope to get it up to about 300 before I apply as ED. I do many club activities, and I am a VP of Korean Club. I’m planning to do internship at Marriott Resort & Spa during summer. I hope things go as I plan.

How about Switzerland? Like Ecole Hoteliere Lausanne or IHTTI… if I can’t get in, I wish to go to the Swiss.

I wish I had more time to flip things around but I will try my best.

But it wouldn't be like number above 1000 though probably right? I don't think they would reject like 900 some people.. couple hundred maybe... maybe it means that BU Hospitality isn't popular.. I remember reading about 30000 people applied.

SHA is one of the smaller schools, but I'm sure everyone who gets in there doesn't take 7 APs and have a 4.5+ GPA. It wouldn't be fair, because some high schools may not offer a lot of AP classes (mine only offered 2), therefore some students may not have much of a chance to earn above a 4.0. I applied to COM (I'm currently a sophomore), and their stats are different, but I can say that BU looks for well-rounded students who are dedicated and involved in various activities, though grades and SATs are important. Just make sure you use the resources you have to the best of your ability.
