FSEOG on chopping block??

I read an article about the budget that is being proposed and in it…under education cuts was FSEOG.

I know this was limited funding, etc. But it looks like if this budget passes, it will be completely gone.

Anyone else see this?

I had to google, in case anyone else didn’t know - The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a grant that is awarded to students in need of financial aid. It is a type of federal grant that is awarded college undergraduate program students and does not need to be repaid.

Yes @ninakatarina

And I believe this FSEOG Grant is being eliminated in the proposed federal budget under education cuts.

Anyone?

Perhaps you mean the PROSPER act proposal?

Are they raising the Pell grant then for the lowest EFC students?

I didn’t read about a raise in the Pell to compensate for FSEOG being eliminated.

Pell is an entitlement that one gets based on FAFSA EFC.

FSEOG never was an entitlement…had limited funding per campus, and was awarded on a first come first serve basis…didn’t even get awarded to ALL the low income kids on each college campus.

@mommdc I know you know the above…but others might not.
