FSEOG grant shows up for one school, but not another?

In my financial aid package for UChicago, I received both a Pell Grant and a FSEOG (Federal supplemental educational opportunity grant). In packages from Rice and Smith, no FSEOG was included (though the Pell Grant was). Has this happened to anyone else? Since the FSEOG is a federal grant, I’m assuming it should be equally available to be granted regardless of the institution I’d attend.

I’m planning to call the financial aid office to inquire later once the school day is over, but for now, I thought I’d ask to see if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks!

FSEOG is not an entitlement. PELL is. Schools get varying amounts of that grant if at all, and they can distribute it at their discretion. The same goes for Perkins loans and workstudy.

NO!

It is a fed grant but it’s not equally available. Some schools only give FSEOG to 0 Efc students…some can’t even give to all 0 EFC students.

Some schools do not give SEOG at all.
