My daughter just moved to FSU to start summer session. We are both confused about FSU cash versus her Suntrust account. My understanding is that FSU cash can be used for laundry, printing and at vending machines. Is FSU cash a different account than her Suntrust account? If she swipes her card for laundry can payment be taken directly from her Suntrust account or does she need money in a separate FSU cash account?

she needs to transfer money to FSU cash to do laundry, print, etc. She can do this at the library by putting cash into a machine they have or swiping her debit card. Money can also be transferred online on blackboard by clicking the fsucard tab then the card deposit tab and filling out the information. The website states “Note: FSUCash is not your SunTrust account and is not affiliated with SunTrust”

Thank you. I want to make sure I understand this correctly. Her FSUcard that is linked to her Suntrust account can be used as a debit card on campus at the bookstore, the UPS store, at ATM’s, and other outside mercharts. She just needs to swipe the card and use her pin number. Laundry, printing and vending only accept FSUcash which is a separate account. Everywhere else on campus she can use her FSUcard as a debt card to pay out of the Suntrust account. Am I understanding this correctly?

There are places she can use EITHER FSU cash or money from her Suntrust account. For instance, at the bookstore she can swipe and use either one or the other, she just indicates which one. And yes, the debit withdrawal needs a PIN.

Some parents want the opportunity to put money on as FSU cash so that it can only be used on campus for meals, books, etc and not for getting cash to waste on things like alcohol, etc. FSU cash can be used at any of the cafeterias, food locations, bookstore, Starbucks locations, the UPS store. Here is a chart that helps you to see where you can use the different options. http://www.fsucard.fsu.edu/FSUCashDescription.html

So if you are the controlling type (some kids need a few more controls), you can put more money on as FSU cash and less money into the Suntrust account.

Thanks for the information. Another question. She has $200 in Flexbucks, if she swipes her card at Starbucks, for example, is payment automatically taken from her Flexbuck’s account or does she have to indicate Flexbucks, FSUcash, or Suntrust, since this vendor takes all three?
