Accepting for summer is non binding according to their Instagram post
Iâd imagine like any commitment there would be a non refundable deposit. I imagine the info is avail on their website tho
Deposit for summer too?
@TwoforT Hi All the Universities in Florida require you take 9 sumner credits. Many kids take the first 6 credits the summer before freshman year, itâs called Summer B. Itâs a lot of fun, the campus is less crowded, itâs a great way to get used to being a college student. It is also a way for the schools to admit more students, there is a weed out component. My older son was admitted for fall but chose summer for the social part.
You can appeal, but I did it 30 odd years ago and honestly it was the best!
I agree that several of my Dâs classmates chose to start in the first summer just because they wanted to live in Tallahassee for the summer (really? crazy hot) or wanted to get the summer requirement out of the way. One graduated more than a year early because she just liked taking classes every summer.
It used to be an issue because BF couldnât be used in the summer but now it can. I donât know if it can be used the first summer.
I think the summer admit is no big deal unless your student really canât start that first summer. There are quite a few options for summer, starting in May and then more sessions starting in June and July.
Yes, for sure non-binding, it says right on the form before you submit
With the exception of one person I have not seen anyone get in for fall with an SAT score under 1300. So I stand by what I said, SATs were the main deciding factor. Regardless of their comment of it being âHollosticâ.
Admission statistics for the class of 2025 listed in the PDF link above
Is there anyway to âappealâ a Seminole Pathways offer? Maybe with submission of first semester grades?
My daughter got in and her SAT wasnât the best. She got a 1220. I think what helped her was her GPA 4.0 uw 4.8 w and sheâs ranked top 1% of her class. All her classes have been honors, AP and dual enrollement.
For appeals:
My son got accepted. FSU weighted GPA 4.25, 33 ACT composite score. He did not get the OOS waiver. We are kind of baffled. He sent an email to ask for clarification. Did this happen to anyone else with similar credentials?
The GPA may have had to be an unweighted 4.0. There is info posted on the admission page under FAQâs about this.
His GPA is âweightedâ according to FSU. Not the weighted from his school. I will check out the FAQs
Yes, with an ACT score like that I would be baffled too.
Does anyone know if FSU counts foreign language as a âCore subjectâ in their calculated GPA?
Accepted!
4.2 weighted
29 ACT
Co Captain of varsity basketball team
National and state journalism awards
Fall admit
OOS
No merit
I think sheâs decided to go to University of Arkansas
I read and heard that class rank matters a lot to the big state universities in Florida. This certainly validates that theory. Congrats to your daughter!
Strange indeed. I wonder if the OOS waiver is subject to a geographic component. Perhaps they try to offer to the top kids from all states, resulting in different cutoffs by state.
