@Couglesrx01 -did you also visit UofSC? If so, which campus did you prefer? OOS D has visited Uof SC, and is in there. Hoping for good news from FSU this week, and then it may come down to those 2.

Yes she was at Uof SC on Thursday and also loved it, also admitted there. I think she is leaning towards FSU just a feeling she has. I was not there she was there with my husband so don’t know why. She also looked at UGA and today at UF . She is deferred to UGA but honestly she did not love it. Not sure if will be accepted to UF so will see, also will depend on if any Merit money. Uof SC was very generous so that can be a factor!!

@Couglesrx01 Thank you so much! My D sounds exactly like yours—deferred at UGA, also a maybe for UF, and good merit at UofSC. We’ve only seen SC so far. Good luck to you!

Can you tell me what you me by “deferred to UGA”? My D has chosen similar schools.

Applied EA, but instead of a December decision UGA deferred her to RD. At least that’s what happened to my D.

Deferral is the “it” word of 2021. Seems like a lot of schools are deferring to later rounds - they got too many apps so either they didn’t have time to read them all or they need to see how many early admits pay
so they can control their yields. If someone applied to 5 or 6 on average in pervious years, maybe they applied to 8 or 9 this year so everyone’s apps are up. And there’s likely no statistical program to help the school’s even guess. I imagine they are afraid of being under attended or over attended (and no housing). And there’s no rhyme or reason.

My daughter just did the College of Charleston Honors Weekend - sort of their top student program - sometimes better to be a star in a less prestigious school - anyway, she got into UGA and deferred at Miami (similarly ranked but technically UGA is higher). Someone on her C of C chat was opposite - into Miami and deferred at UGA. My daughter got into the U of SC and Honors - it’s #1 in the country. Yet got waitlisted at Pitt Honors.

I hope FSU doesn’t defer - we have schools that won’t tell us until April
but the waiting is tough on all these kids.

FSU does not defer, since this is not early action. I don’t think they have a waitlist either.

Does anyone know time of day FSU releases decisions? I know Feb 18th just curious if they state a time.

Some posts in this chat say 4pmEST, but I haven’t seen anything official. The waiting is so hard!

Yes! It’s our son’s first choice. We found out he was accepted into Clemson yesterday which was exciting as well!

Does anyone know if there is a difference in acceptance rates between in state and oos at fsu?

Yes - far lower OOS. This was two years ago.

Florida State admitted 19,230 students from every county in Florida, 49 states, Washington, D.C., and 37 countries. Out-of-state applications increased 41 percent with the acceptance rate for out-of-state students at 19.5 percent.Feb 4, 2019

Ugh. 19% is not good, even with strong stats.
