My understanding (from the FSU website) is that Honors invitations are sent via letter within two weeks of admission. Is this true to actual experience? I know many schools give notice of admission/Honors invitation sometimes long before the "official" date.

You can actually just call if you aren’t sure. When I was admitted I had an 1880 SAT score, but I emailed the honors desk in December when I received my new scores (1970) and got a call a few days before Christmas letting me know that they were sending me the honors application and information.

I felt there was not much point in calling the Honors office because I would most likely get their “official” date or timeframe, which I can find on their webpage. But many schools outperform or underperform their official dates. For instance, WashU has an official notification date of April 1, but it is likely that their decisions will be posted online today or tomorrow (although they won’t tell you that if you call them). And UNC’s ED notifications were pushed later and later because of their new computer system. I’m wondering what people’s actual experience has been.

Nah, they actually tell you the exact day that they send them out if you just ask them. They’re pretty nice people. I know that my friend Ashley received an email saying she was invited to the honors program on the 21st of December (12 days after she was admitted), if that helps. The actual acceptance packet came in the mail a few days later.

That does help, Dnerd. Thanks!
It seems late to hear about Honors invites. But I was surprised that they weren’t releasing admit decisions until mid-March, too. DS applied fairly early (it seems like a long time ago, now!) I was expecting rolling decisions like many state schools, so the 3-4 month wait after application has been tedious. Perhaps they don’t do OOS admits rolling?
Although we had to wait several days to hear from TX Liberal Arts Honors, too, that was back at the very beginning of February.

Patience is a virtue…

No problem. Oh and they actually have two admission decisions. The first one was December 9th if you applied before October 1st (or somewhere around that time), and that was for both in and OOS admits. My cousin actually applied the day afterward, so he had to wait too.
