Honors College?

Is there anybody else who thought they should have received information on the honors college and didn't? I had a 32 act/4.0 FSU GPA, better than most other people i know who got invitations to the honors college, and I did not receive one. I'd rather not have to fill out the application for it, did anybody have any luck calling the university and they just mailed out the invitation?

If you are serious about attending Florida State and being accepted into the honors program...I suggest you email or call the Honors Program office: fsu.edu | Honors Program

last year, basically anyone who wasn't originally invited, and appealed, got in. worst comes to worst, you'll just have to fill out the app. no biggie.

Email honors and make sure you are on their list. I emailed them not too long ago because I got nothing in the mail. I have a 33 ACT and 4.1 GPA; we have similar scores. They said they mailed me an invitation, so I assumed it got lost in the mail. They gave me some lady to contact, and I am awaiting a response from her.

So basically just email them (or call).

Alright thanks Jman and livelovelaugh. I just sent them an email, and worst comes to worse, i'll just appeal if I wasnt invited.

Well I got an email back, and they sent me a word document of my invitation (including the password and how to submit the enrollment form), so that's all done and over with (hopefully). It is a good thing, because it turned out my invitation said I needed to submit the enrollment form by January 14th. lol

For all of you who want to be in the honors program, the password is honors09. =]

Yeah, it's the same for everyone. :D

That password is a little obvious.

So what are the advantages to honors again? Smaller classes, opportunity for Landis Hall, better pick of classes?

the main advantage to honors is PRIORITY REGISTRATION. I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to register for classes more than a month ahead of everyone else. You basically get the exact classes (time and teacher) that you want. Other advantages include honors classes (although they're not mandatory), Landis Hall, honors diploma (if you do the required work).

The only requirement to remain in honors is to maintain a 3.2 gpa.

Does it matter when you sign up for orientation/registration?

Because I'm not sure if I'll be going to FSU Honors yet, it depends on my acceptances/aid from other schools that I get my decision from in April.

If you are accepted to FSU and asked to join Honors you should consider attending PreView and if you decide on FSU attend the Orientation set up specifically for Honors freshman.

Woo. I'm officially signed up for the honors college now! So if all the other schools fail me, I'll actually be going to an amazing state school honors program! =D

After submitting the form, when do you find out if you actually got into honors?

E-mail. I sent mine in like 5 days before the deadline.

I sent mine in about 5 days before the deadline, too. I submitted it electronically and by mail.

I never even got the invitation by mail; I had to email them to get it. I dunno what's up with them. lol

Wow. They must hate you. ;)

Well, then I'm sure you'll get your e-mail later, seeing as you got your invitation later.

But then again, I'd also e-mail them about getting the e-mail.

That sounded weird.

I might have to!

My personal deadline was Jan 14th.
