FSU (honors) vs UF

Pretty much, Itg. It’s the same stuff over and over. The only thing that changes are the screen names.

Actually, UF’s endowment is much more than 2x now. Don’t forget UF has already raked in about $900M more from the current campaign!

Saying that UF is better than FSU is like saying Idaho is a better state than North Dakota.

The point is, they’re both crappy states. It’s kind of dumb arguing over something like this.

Jman, as stated above, UF is a one of the top 17 public schools in the country while FSU is 50th. Your analogy doesn’t apply.

I could see why some one could say that UF is not as big (compared to the ivies), but the thing is that UF has stated that it wants to be in the nations top 20 universities.

Let me know how the endowment thing works out for you…

^ ok I will.

Hey p2n, UF’s current fundraiser has collect over $930 million dollars! This money will be used to fund all the colleges and schools at UF to help students, faculty, research, and other campus initiatives! This raise this amount of money in a terrible economic climate is awesome.

UF is currently ahead of schedule to complete the 1.5 billion dollar fundraiser. This money comes in VERY handy as the state cuts back on SUS funds.

Looks like its working out pretty well! :D

The amount of endowment that a university receives does not only mean that the school has more money but also that people have more confidence on that university. Companies large and small invest on universities that they believe will improve their work force, and that’s why UF is an overall better school.

^Um, it really means they have alumni with money to spend, and this is a function of having a med school, a law school, a dentistry school and so on. Amazingly, sports titles actually help this. It’s worth as an indicator of academic excellence is a bit more dubious.

Congrats on collecting so much money in such a down economy!

Endowment does not included tuition profits, and anyway who cares if UF has a med school, and etc, at the end of the day it has a better reputation (because it is a better school), which helps in your resume. But all things aside i still think FSU is a good choice.

Good luck at UF!

this is embarrassing for all parties involved.
just so you guys know.

That’s the advantage of an anonymous message board. You discuss things you’d be afraid to cover elsewhere. Are these items pretty much worn out? Sure. So why does anyone care? Passion, frankly. The same subjects come up repeatedly, so air them out.

Psychologically, it is referred to as the online disinhibition effect.

I am often guilty of asynchronicity, posting something then logging off.

and idaho is at the top for potato production

top 17 PUBLIC

not top 17 out of all schools
come on now. this is a joke

Public Schools. Cool. I don’t know, Maybe I’d be proud to be 17th in Public Schools. Ok, sure, not on CC, but who cares?

Don’t bag on UF, it’s moving up. I mean, hell, think about it. 17th or 50th in Public Schools??? Not trying to down FSU, but, UF is a pretty good school. I wonder how difficult it will be to get in for class of 2010.

i wanted to compare it to winning in the special olympics

but CC is too politically correct, and i don’t want to get a warning or something ;)

Trash Florida if you want, compare it to Idaho, Udaho, the special olympics, or whatever you’d like to. The point here is that someone got into these two schools and is trying to decide their future. They came here for advice. If you can’t offer anything constructive towards the potential student’s decision… then why bother? Don’t try and insult the two schools they could potentially get their degree from.

i’m sorry. i guess i’ll leave constructive criticism up to people like IntangibleGator or goufgators. you know, the people that don’t trash schools. people that have others’ best interests in mind when they need help reaching such an important decision. ;)
