The FSU iphone app is free and it is quite nice. The calendar is great. You can easily see the entire football schedule, the academic calender for fall and spring. You can search for faculty and TA/GA contacts in the directory. (students are not listed, at least not yet, although you can look at the student directory via blackboard/secure apps.) The map is pretty sweet, and you can use the search function. I am sure there are kinks to work out, but it is really a great app. It launched Friday. If you are signed up to get text alerts, you can then check the status or for more info under news. The sports sections is good. Baseball scores can be hard to find easily online, as ESPN does not list college baseball. Here, I can keep up easily.

Sunnyflorida - where is the student directory located? I’ve been on the blackboard/secure apps screen but can’t seem to find the link for student directory. If anyone can “point” the way, I would appreciate it!

A PS on the student directory: you can opt out due to privacy laws. You can opt to be listed with or without the picture on your FSU card, or you can opt out all together. Obviously the U still has access, but other students do not if you opt out.

Thanks Dnerd and sunnyflorida - I guess my D’s summer roommate opted out of listing her info. My D’s been on vacation so hasn’t been able to get in touch with her “summer” roommate - this person doesn’t have a fb and there’s absolutely nothing when I google her name so I thought to check the student directory.

^ Are you absolutely sure that you’re using the “Full name” option and don’t have any extra spaces before, after, or in the middle of the two names? I couldn’t even find myself because I had an extra space in between my first and last name.

Sign onto Blackboard and on the left under TOOLS it says USER DIRECTORY.

My blackboard is faculty, but I think the student page is the same. Under WELCOME (your student’s first name) it has TOOLS and then USER Directory.

App will be available for android and blackberry by the start of fall semester. And the campus maps being used by students and families attending orientation as we speak.
