FSU OOS Financial aid/Scholarships

Hey everyone! I am a georgia resident and high school senior. UGA is my first choice school, but it is very competitive, so I am not sure that I will get in. In the case that I don’t get in, FSU would be my most likely second choice. However, the cost of OOS tuition does bother me. I am trying to figure out how likely I would be to receive any money from FSU and around how much. Thanks in advance for your responses, any new knowledge helps!

Bump

I apologize for any inaccuracies ahead of time as I am not well rehearsed in UGA or FSU, so take what I say with a grain of salt. Your APs are satisfactory (but could be better), your GPA and SAT are both a little bit subpar, and your extracurriculars are great and probably the standout for your application. Based off that, I’d say you’d have a 25% chance of attaining a scholarship, which you could raise by 25% if you bump up your GPA and other scores. Remember that I do not know the requirements for those colleges very well, so don’t overvalue what I said.

The school’s website will state whether it gives need-based FA to OOS students.

Your GPA & scores are unlikely to garner merit money.

His test scores qualify for honors college - not sure what minimum GPA is.

Getting admitted into the honors college is not the same thing a getting merit money. Merit money is a recruiting tool to attract very high stats applicants. The very high stats help bring up the average for the school.

@GMTplus7 FSU gives academic merit (about $10k spread over 4 years) which might be possible. Not familiar how they work with OOS to bring cost down.

Bump. I know that FSU does offer an out of state waiver, but the website does not state any necessary SAT/GPA, so I am trying to figure out how likely my stats are to get either the half-tuition or the out of state tuition waiver. Has anyone received either of these?

How interested would you be in UAlabama, USF Main Campus, Wabash, Hampden Sydney, USC?

@MYOS1634 I am a little interested in Alabama, although my parents are not a fan of the overall reputation. USC is another school I will be applying to, but the rest I have not considered.
