Without knowing anything else about you, it’s almost impossible to tell.

FSU cares about more than your GPA and ACT/SAT.

I played varsity baseball for 4 years, a lot of community service and leadership stuff in high school. Took 6 AP courses and have challenging classes for senior year. I know they want more than just GPA and test scores but they are not very clear in their description of scholarship. Also i dont believe they require separate application with letters of recommendation which makes me think grades and test scores are heavily weighted

FSU doesn’t care as much about SAT and ACT scores, because those can be taken over and over and over and over as much as you want. What matters most is course rigor and how you did in those courses. GPA is important but is not the end-all for applications either.

I’d say you have a good shot of getting in, given what you have said. However, keep in mind that out of state is very competitive.

I am unsure of the exact criteria (I personally had a 2020 on the SAT), but you may qualify for the $9,600 University Freshman Scholarship.

I’m not sure I agree that FSU doesn’t care about test scores as much. Is there any place where they state this? GPAs are a rough measure, at best. Sure you can take the SAT more than once, but at least it’s basically the same test for everyone.

One teacher’s A+ is another’s B-. Different regions of the country tend to have higher GPAs than others. Test scores are an important reality check for grade inflation, which seems rampant these days.

That being said, the OPs state are impressive enough, either way.

It says in the FSU Common Data Set - Section C7. This survey shows the relative weight FSU places on freshman academic credentials.

Thank you that information was very helpful.

I think applications for Fall 2013 become available on August 1st. Would it be better for me to apply ASAP or wait until my Sept ACT scores are available.

It doesn’t matter when you apply. If you send your new ACT scores to FSU, they will add them to your application profile and will reconsider you (if necessary) when they get them.

p2n: Well, I concede that you’ve got the data that backs up your statement.

Even still, I suspect that some schools are publicly playing down the importance of standardized test scores due to criticism that they should be taking a more “holistic” view of a student.
