Which University do you think is the better overall pick (not just academics because I'm aware that FSU beats UCF)??

Fsu

depends what you're going for. Some programs at UCF are really good. Film production for example (kids from UCF made The Blair Witch Project)

I'm not too sure about any other programs though, a lot of my friends went to UCF and say they liked it. Some of them even chose UCF over FSU so I don't know.

Actually, I've been hearing some good things about UCF lately. I think the best thing to do here is to visit each and decide that way.

All I know about the schools really is that I've been to both campuses, UCF is REAL ugly (newer brick buildings looking more like a big community college) and FSU is on a real pretty campus.

But thats no reason to pick one over the other. :)

The FSU Film School is one of the Top 3 in the US. FSU is also much more a traditional university experience; being centered in the main in one location.

UCF is more of a commuter school and actually is composed of some 16 campuses in different locations. At FSU you could go four years and not need a car or bike.

For history, FSU has the most storied history of all universities in Florida as it has been in the same spot for some 150+ years. If access to Disney World influences your university choice then UCF would be for you.

The FSU campus has hills and huge old oak trees; the main UCF campus is flat, though I do believe they have a something of a pond or small lake.

As an FSU graduate the choice is obvious to me - better sports, better campus, better academics, better tradition = FSU.

id have to agree. FSU is much more of a traditional campus and established university than UCF.
UCF despite amazing progress academically and socially is stilla commuter school and the overall feel is quite different from FSU.

I would select FSU.

I want to echo post number 7 although I wouldn't say that FSU is in the top three of film schools. I don't think it is better than the USC, NYU, and UCLA triumvirate. Nevertheless, FSU is an outstanding film school, perhaps, I think, the second best in the East after NYU. UCF is nice, but only second level in film.

Thank you for your opinions!! I don't mind if you keep them coming!! hehe

I cannot say I know much about Film Schools, but the graduate program is ranked three: FSU Highlights

Having written this, ratings are imperfect. Go to the school that fits you.

My biased opinion- FSU

My unbiased opinion- not even close, FSU

UCF is good for a regional college. It's getting better every year, but it's not quite there yet. If being close to Disney World is a priority, then go with UCF.

If you want the full college experience (academics, athletics, campus, college town, etc...), then go with FSU.

FSU - better campus life, well-known.

ucf. progressive, up and coming (rose up two tiers on usnews rankings in the last year) better science programs than fsu.

Which sciences would those be?

UCF has gotten better but overall I would say that FSU is my choice. The financial aid at FSU is good and the tuition is very low for in-state applicants.

BIased opinion-FSU. but like many have said it truly depends on what your majoring in. No matter what we say it truly depends in you and what your looking for in a university.

FSU!
i just got accepted to the Film program! i accepted the invitation within the hour i received the email. i was MUCH more impressed w FSU than UCF.

UCF is really new and i wasn’t too thrilled with what they had to offer when i visited.

so…FSU FILM!!!
