I've recently decided to major in Industrial Engineering. I have been accepted into both FSU and USF, now my question is which one has a better engineering program? I understand that FSU shares its program with FAMU but i haven't heard much about USFs program. Thank you to anybody who can help me

Did you apply to FAMU as well? If so, compare the financial and net cost between FSU and FAMU… if one is significantly cheaper than the other, you may be able to get the same thing for less money at the cheaper one.

FSU, FAMU, and USF all have ABET accreditation in industrial engineering.

As a grad of UF, I say go to FSU.

I’m not a fan of FSU’s engineering school, it isn’t on campus and it is shared with FAMU. That said, I’m not much of a fan of USF’s entire campus, it is remote and feels like a community college. Any chance of getting into UF?

The new dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering is quite an accomplished engineer:
See: http://www.fsu.edu/news/2012/01/30/engineering.dean/

Four MIT degrees in 4 years - that is amazing! If this new dean can impart even a portion of his drive to the college bright days are ahead.

I did mean to mention the new dean at FSU, seems to be incredibly gifted.

Hmmm, is it true that FAMU’s application deadline for next fall is May 15, as listed in its [printable application](<a href=“Page Not Found”>Page Not Found)? If so, it may be worth applying and seeing if it will be less expensive to attend FAMU instead of FSU for the shared engineering division.

I would try to get into UF, either as a freshman or a transfer. The FAMU-FSU program is not respected. USF is not very well known in engineering.

How do you know the FSU program isn’t respected? What industry do you work in?

For undergrad, it would make sense for the OP to go where he feels he is a better fit. That said, USF’s IE program, at the grad level, is higher-ranked by the NRC and USNews.
