I am a senior in high school, preparing for FSU in the summer. I was born a Seminole, as my father attended and my sister is finishing up her last semester. I did my housing application right away when I found out about my acceptance. I was up when they posted and was able to get an extremely good priority number, so I realize I should be able to get what housing I want. Throughout school, I've always been a good kid. I'm at the top of my class. I stay away from drinking and drugs and such. I am a jock. I still associate myself with the popular crowd. My friends understand how I am and respect it. The Wellness Lifestyle option at Reynolds Hall interested me some. If anyone lived in this dorm, or has heard about it, I'd appreciate the information. Also, being an athletic guy, food is big thing. I realize there is the unlimited option, but what are some of your views? How about the dining hall options available? Suwanee is right next to Reynolds. Thanks in advance!

My younger daughter, now a sophomore at FSU, lived in the Wellness section of Reynolds last year. She is a serious student, extremely athletic and also abhors risky behaviors like smoking, drinking alcohol and the rest.

She enjoyed Reynolds and had a great time with other students equally focused on a healthy lifestyle. This is not to say everyone is like this in the program, but many are.

Reynolds is very social. Food is available nearby at Suwanee (as well as myriad other places on campus) and unlimited meal plans are available.

She did not want the unlimited meal plan because she like to cook for herself, so we bought her the smallest plan and Garnet Bucks.

I've eaten on campus many times...the food is decent, but everything gets old after enough time. Still, there is enough variety to keep it good.

Hope this helps...

Thanks.

Alright, so, there will still be your "normal" people living in there that just so happen to feel the same way about the healthy lifestyle. Of course, there will be a few, but was there concern about the 'sketchy' or 'weird' people because they were living in this dorm.

Do you happen to know where in Reynolds the Wellness section is located. They also have the pre-health professions LLC in Reynolds so I was wondering. I know everyone in dorm has to agree to the contract but how many are actually part of the Wellness. What kind of room did your daughter live in?

You mentioned about it being very social. I read somewhere else that said Reynolds is like dead. That also goes with the concern about the 'type' of people.

About food, yeah, everything gets old after time. I was reading elsewhere and people seemed to mention that Suwanee was below the others. Food is food though, and if I need to eat, I guess I'll survive with it being a few feet from Reynolds.

She had no concerns I know about. There were students in the Wellness program who'd drink, but they'd get kicked out if they were caught. The RAs (Resident Assistants - typically more experienced students who live on the floor to keep things running smoothly) would report anyone smelling of liquor (so they say).

Wellness was located on the 2nd floor of Reynolds at that time. She's a dietetics major so the Wellness concept fit in with her major.

She said it was very social - most kids kept their door open and friends would wander by all the time. Too social at times... ;)

Every time I've eaten at Suwanee it was fine. They have a diversity of food, even Kosher food.

my friend actually got kicked out of the wellness program, for possession of certain things.. :wink":

My older daughter stayed her second year in Gilchrist and had a freshman roommate.

The freshman got arrested for drinking alcohol.

I can just imagine the phone call home...:(

why do you think the students who didnt want to abide by the rules for the wellness program even bothered to apply?

Probably some kids think they won't get caught or maybe they changed their mind about living a healthy lifestyle once they were away from home.

I'm going to be a freshman at fsu next year and am also starting in summer, I've always been a nole and absolutely love Tallahassee! But just wanted to say that there are tons of good dorms like Wildwood and Degraff which are brand new and right next to Salley there is Fresh Foods which is a school dining hall and is pretty good my cousin lives in Salley and she loves it. Besides campus food there are tons of great local restaurants (Kool Beans is amazing) and chains like Moes, Chilis and Outback.

Welcome Nolegirl2012!

Congratulations on your acceptance!

well chilis is technically on campus at the union hopefully one day in the near future..before 2040 they'll finally finish it and we can enjoy eating there.
