I'm confused. I've read somewhere where it states it's a tier 2 and then you google and it says tier 1, but then according to USnews.com it's ranked 101.

There is no doubt that FSU is a Tier 1 school. It’s actually TIED for 101# (atleast on here)
[National University Rankings | Top National Universities | US News Best Colleges](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/page+11)
With universities like NCST, Kansas, Nebraska, OU, Oregon, Tennessee showing #101 also.

On another note, why do i feel as though all your threads seems trollerific

Where have you ever seen that FSU is a tier 2 school?

Sid- “On another note, why do i feel as though all your threads seems trollerific”

He is purportedly a junior business major at UF who is dropping out of all his classes this semester and yet still interested in joining UF school clubs while planning a transfer to FSU.

What is suspicious about that?

never said i was going to join clubs at UF i just didnt want to make so many threads on the FSU forum. but i did ask if joining clubs in general are worthless or good to some extent. but yes im a current UF student wanting to go to FSU

Ok tier 1 it is. Maybe i read it wrong. thats good to know.

According to US News Florida State is the #46 public university in the U.S. Frankly, I think that is far too low a ranking. FSU is also one of two flagship universities in Florida, in general.

I couldnt agree more parent2noles. I dont understand either I believe FSU is outstanding school.

And the school deserves a higher ranking than #101 best. Maybe in the 70’s would be nice. I think in the near future they would rank better despite budget cuts

I know of tier 1/tier 2 in two ways. FSU is tier 1 in both.

1) The US News rankings used to be broken up into tiers 1-4. Originally only the top 50 were considered tier 1 and none of the schools in Florida were ranked in the top 50 back then. Then I think they changed tier 1 to include the top 125 or 150, and the big three became tier 1. Then a few years ago they changed it again so now any school that is ranked at all is considered tier 1.

2) Research classifications used to be referred to as “research 1” and “research 2.” FSU was and is a research 1 school. People found that terminology offensive though. Now schools are said to have “high” or “very high” research activity. FSU has “very high research activity.”
