FSU YSP 2016

A mom can hope. He was only one from his school according to guidance counselor. Good luck to your daughter.

I will post if we do hear anything. D just got accepted into a program call UWC (United World College) and will be leaving in Aug to finish her schooling in the UK. So, I am happy to have her home most of the summer

Wow, that is terrific. Congrats to her. Started looking into sending him to USF program as they now have a 4 week stem academy offered this year. Waiting to see what scholarships are available for it.
So your D will complete her senior year in the U.K.?

I hear great things about USF . They now have a medical school. I still kind of wonder about how many applied for the FSU YSP. Anyway, good luck …and who knows maybe you will still get that email. D will do junior and senior year

Just curious as I assume son is wait listed. What was date that you all who were accepted were to confirm attendance or not? Trying to figure out if wait listed people already notified too.

Hi Candyce1- I believe my daughter’s deadline to accept was yesterday, so I would imagine the next wave will go out this week. Good Luck!

Thanks @LTG . Fingers crossed. If he doesn’t make it, he’ll most likely be going to Ole Miss program on full scholarship but was hoping to keep him in state even though Ole Miss program earns college credits. Both inland are Noles so they too would be happy for him to see how great FSU is.

@lion19 @LTG My D got accepted They had the wrong email address.

My daughter Natalie was accepted March 17th and will be attending as well. They were looking for a response from the accepted student by March 27th.

Wow, akinsc, how did they get the wrong email and how did you find out? Did you call and check to see status of application?

They texted her with a “Urgent reply”. So thankful that they thought to do that. She has a tricky email address.

@akinsc , well congrats to her. We still never heard anything and I have begun to lose hope. He has some other irons in the fire so he should still have a great summer experience. I was just really hoping for in state at his grandparents alma mater. Not to mention I hear it is an awesome experience. Good luck to your daughter and all those who were chosen.

My daughter did YSP at FSU in the summer of 2013. It was an awesome experience and I believe it is a huge plus as far as college applications go. Everyone in the program was admitted to top notch colleges: Vanderbilt, Yale, MIT, UPenn, Rice, Stanford to name a few. Acceptance to the fully funded sought after summer programs look great on college applications. To everyone accepted, have a wonderful time!

Thank you @yellowgranite56 for sharing about your daughter. Where did she end up? What did she major in? TYIA

My daughter is currently a junior at Vanderbilt and loving it there. She is majoring in healthcare management. She started out as premed but got weeded out first semester. She is liking this better.

I assume I was on the waiting list since I got my acceptance email 3/29 I replied to accept, but I haven’t heard back since. Does anyone know if they reply to your email saying you accept, or do they just send you the acceptance packet by mail.

@Joseht123 did you mail in a check for your $50 non-refundable commitment fee?

In the email they stated “As soon as we have confirmed all 39 of your fellow participants, we will send
everyone the official paperwork (including consent, course preference, research
project preference, and personal information forms, as well as a copy of the
program handbook and a program contract)”

Yeah I sent the check it arrived the first of April, so all that’s left to do is wait

I had a pretty strong application, but I still haven’t heard back from them. Should I be worried?? Are they done accepting people?

I think the 40 spots have been filled. I was sad for my son for missing out on this opportunity.
