Fsuid

question? is this something a newly admitted student should do now? or do you have to wait until you get to orientation. It seems like on the things to do list it says to start the process for the permanent FSUID, but somewhere on here it says to wait until you get a card????

The actual card comes in during orientation.

This is what I was told

You get your FSUID during orientation when you go to the FSU Card building and take a picture and get a shiny new card that you will probably lose once during your whole time here ^_^

You can get the card at preview, and you don’t have to wait in a ridiculously long line then. Well that’s what I’ve heard.

Oh and you can get your actual ID right now by going here: https://campus.fsu.edu/</a> and registering. I’ve had my ID for awhile, and I’ve started using it for email and whatnot.

If you go to preview, get your card. At orientation, you will have to wake up early just to get it and wait in a ridiculously long line as Dnerd said. As for your FSU ID, you may as well sign up for that as well.

https://apps.oti.fsu.edu/FSUID/jsp/fsuidActivate.jsp</a></p>

Dang it…I was just at preview a week ago. Ah well… :/

Grab breakfast and arrive maybe 20mins to a half hour before the place should open. It’s not so bad if you can snack and chat before the line gets super long.

Ah seriously! The dorm vending and washing machines get me all the time. All nighters + midnight washing = many a lost card. Thankfully there’s always been a kind soul who turned it in without spending any of my chip money! I think I’ve found around four cards myself.

I assume that, in order to get the card at preview, you must pay the $200 fee first?

^Correct, LTG.

I’m confused. If you get up early and wait in line for your card at orientation, aren’t you missing part of the orientation program?

You can get your card at any time once you’ve paid your fees: now, preview, or orientation. Getting your card isn’t part of orientation per say. They just expect you to have it done as soon as you can. The card place is open before the first session of orientation the day after you check in. Most people don’t get the card the day they arrive because they either got there too late or don’t want their photo taken after a day of traveling.

You can access the FSU ID number by signing in to blackboard. The actual card can be made anytime you visit FSU, once you have paid your tuition deposit. Many who go to preview get it them. Everyone else gets it at orientation. You get up early before the first full day of activities or before the second half day of activities and get it. They allow time to get it before the day begins, or during breaks.

So since I already went to Preview and I really don’t want to wait in line, can I just go to Tallahassee on a weekend and get it done? Or is it only open on weekdays? And what part of the campus do you get it done at?

its not important to have your fsucard till you actually are on campus, you probably wont need it till you try to get into your dorm…

I recall that you needed your card to register for classes the final morning or orientation.

The hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Unless it puts a stop on your registration, I don’t see why you would need it. You register for classes with blackboard, which doesn’t require your FSUCard.
