Has anyone on cc ever received one? If so, what were your stats?
My son received a 1/2. He was 4.7 gpa and 2370 SAT. Not sure how they make the determination. I suspect it’s not just stats.
What kind of EC’s did he have (if you don’t mind sharing) Awards? Leadership? I know Kenyon looks for “fit” too. I know that these scholarships are so hard to get, and am just interested to know what they’ve looked for in the past. Did your son end up at Kenyon? If so how is he liking it? Thank you so much!
The main ECs that he had were Editor of the school newspaper and the president of an advocacy group on campus. He had some other lesser ones but those are the ones that took up quite a bit of time. He was second in his class of 400 and had won several school subject academic awards. He did not end up at Kenyon, though it was a hard choice. He very strongly considered it, but he had his heart set on another school which he ended up going to. We’ve known several people that went there and absolutely loved it. The main complaint is the isolation of the school and the small town of Gambier. Some people love that environment, others don’t. It’s a purely personal thing.
