I know you've all been waiting for this day to come...

I just received my updated financial aid package estimates from Cornell and I basically got a full ride. Over $47,000 in grants, $2000 in work study and $2000 personal savings.

Thanks to Cornell's new financial aid policy, I have NO LOANS because my family makes under $60,000 a year.

This, I think, is just the beginning of what is more to come.

Actually I don't think they will be sending out updated packages anytime soon. I was a special case because they made some errors with mine and had to redo it.

I definitely hope more people will consider going to Cornell now, with such an awesome new policy in place.

Hey, that's great. Do you remember what you had on the previous one so we can see the change between the two? And your family income is under 60,000 between both parents?

Does anyone know that for people on finaid, but with over 60k/yr family income, will the finaid also increase, just at a lesser amount? or will it stay the same, or possibly go down?

Does everybody get a revised financial aid mailing, or just those people under the $120,000 level?

Also, do you think my grant will (or can) go down in order to use that money for other students in the new financial aid plan? Or will it stay the same? Now I'm getting nervous rather than excited. :(

I sent in an appeal, no reply yet =[ and I'm really hoping to see the new estimate. my parents make between 75-120. so I should be covered under the new policy. cause I don't wanna get outta school 50k in debt. They basically didn't give me anything based on my last estimate, I think they look at assets very seriously =[

To answer some of your questions, my family makes a combined annual income of less than $60,000 a year. For my situation, I did not have to send in any supplementary material. Of course, this could also apply to you too.

I am pretty sure that EVERYONE will receive a revised financial aid package soon; if not soon, then around April. I guess I am the first to have received my updated estimates.
