Full Ride State School OR No Ride Ivy?

My big brother was accepted to University of Florida and Cornell University. UF is free with bright futures. Cornell is no scholarship.

I would say Cornell for the sake of being in it. But depends on your financial situation.

UF for sure. why pay more just for a name?

I would say it depends, if you live in NY state and your brother was accepted to the public side of Cornell, I would think that would be a very appealing choice. But otherwise, maybe UF is a better choice.

i got almost a full ride to u. pitt but 0 dollars at cornell and i'm going to cornell, I wnat to go to med school though and i think the ivy league status will help me be more prepared and appealing to med schools. i think it's a better education that will challenge me and push me harder so it's better for me.

UF is the way to go.

It depends on your parents financial situation, your brother's enthusiasm for Cornell and what he wants to study. My daughter will (hopefully) be facing a similar decision next year. After giving it a lot of thought, I told her not to let $$ dictate where she wants to go.

yes i agree, it really depends on ur financial situation, if ur parents are willing to pay for it, i would go for it. take advantage of the opportunities u have now, many people have regrets later

he should think about his future too. If Cornell is substantially better or would leave him a whole lot more prepared for his future because of a better program or better variety of classes to choose from he should take them. If UF can compete with cornell's program for whatever he's majoring in and they have success rates then he should seriously consider UF. If he works hard at UF he can be respected just as much as if he had gone to Cornell. Cornell has a really large variety of classes which is another reason I choose it over U. Pitt.
