Just looking for suggestions: If you had to choose between Cornell and UF, which would you pick and why?

i wouldnt pass up and ivy league education for the amount of possible connections and what comes along with an ivy league diploma.. you might not learn much more at cornell, but the name says more than UF.. if money isnt an issue, go for it..

if money isn't an issue of course go to cornell, but considering money I would (and have ) choose UF in a heartbeat. Figure you'd need at least an extra 150k at Cornell (assuming no financial aid and In state at UF) money which is not going to be recouped because of a more prestigious school. Yes you'd get a better job comming out everything else being equal, but no where near that kind of money, and by the time 5 years pass you'll be judged based on your performance or your masters degree wherever you get that from and no one could give a rats ass about your undergrad. UF will not eliminate you from a top masters program if you perform well in UF, and if you don't perform at UF you wouldn't perform at Cornell either and you still wouldn't get into a top masters program.

Of course, if you're a trust fund babie or high financial aid or for whatever reason money is not an issue Cornell is probably the better school, but when you look at everything economically I cannot fathom how Cornell could be worth an extra 150k, as I said I chose UF over everywhere else because I have a complete ride there (with NMF and bright futures along with prepaid I'll be banking money over 4 years) and cannot justify taking out loans or forcing my dad to fork over cash so I can go somewhere more prestigious. Save your money and invest in a good grad school, and come watch our football and basketball teams dominate next year.

Second that, Gatordan.

Go Gators!

well said gatordan.. in reality, undergrad isnt as important, if you do great at UF, its basically going to get you almost anywhere... finances are very important.. go to UF, and you will witness the full roster of returning national champs and a great football team with the 2nd best recruiting class in the nation..

I would go to UF simply for the fact that the Gator Nation Alumni Network is one of the strongest in the country.
