Fun, Friends and General Happiness

Re: Social climate
Current UCLA students, would you say you are happy at UCLA? Have you found friends and a good social life? Are there fun and relaxing things you like to do on or near campus? Do you have study groups that are cooperative and helpful? How about you engineers?

yes.
yes.
yes.
i don't study in groups, but they exist.
i have no idea.

For engineers, study groups are helpful if you are the type who study last day. For me, I study a few days in advance.

However, study groups occur within the last 2 days, so if I go, I'll just be there to "tutor" other people, which wastes time .......

But in terms of social life .. it depends on how you manage your time, and how high of a priority your studies and grades are.

Has it been easy for you, a more or less sociable person, to meet others? Is the campus a friendly, happy place or is everyone too busy and stressed out studying?

^both (10 char)
if you want to meet people its easy to. seriously, you can do whatever the hell you want here. the possibilities are limitless. if you want to do something, you do it, and you get it. go-getters do best.

its whatever you make it to be. you can just as easily be super social and go out all the time or be a recluse and stay in your room all the time.

1) Yes.
2) Yes. My definition of a good social life, though, is a few good friends and a good net of associates. If I were interested in the Greek scene, I could easily find parties and attend them with Greeks on my floor.
3) Yes. I'm watching a play this weekend and am considering purchasing opera tickets at a theater nearby.
4) I prefer studying alone or going to my TA's office hours when I have questions or to just review. I've had bad experiences with study groups.
5) N/A
6) Yes. I tend to be more on the introverted side and have still managed to meet people and make friends. Living in the dorms helps a lot. So does taking the occasional risk. There are all kinds of people here too, so eventually, or hopefully, you will find your niche.
7) Yes, the campus is very friendly and happy. It gets a bit stressful during finals week... though it is manageable. It just depends on the person.

Yes. I like going to free sneaks.

Not applicable.

Yes. But I tend to be social and outgoing.

Campus is friendly. People are awesome for the most part.

if you ever take biskup for math, yes, study groups, cooperative. all the time :(

Yes

Somewhat, but not to the ideal level I wish I had.

Yes

I don't really participate in study groups, but I haven't felt that any class required a study group.

N/A

A little, but it's mostly my fault for not trying to meet and converse with others.

Yes. As mentioned before, the stress is pretty huge during finals week, but otherwise the campus rocks.
