Fun in college??

I have always wondered if there is any time for students to keep up good GPA and have fun in the same time in college, esepecially for engineering students

It seems like Engineering students always stay up late, and study like crazy
but also have fun

can anyone tell me how this works??

You can still have fun, you won't be able to go out partying every night like people in some majors.. but you'll have time to to hit up some parties on the weekends and join a club or two or do an intramural sport. This is coming from a biochem major, I know how you feel :)

Forget about having fun. you need to focus on your academics. have fun later in life when you're rich.

Dude I have so much fun in college it's like a nonstop party, like this afternoon, I studied organic chemistry while listening to music, it was so exhilarating, I can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

Seriously though, you won't have as much free time as other people, but by all means, if you have good time management, you will find time to have fun.

"Dude I have so much fun in college it's like a nonstop party, like this afternoon, I studied organic chemistry while listening to music, it was so exhilarating"

ROFL that one made me laugh :D I feel your pain!

i know engineering students who manage a B+ average and stilll party regularly - as in weekends.

^ Do they go to Dakota State or U Miami?

If you can't go out and party on weekends and still get good grades then you probably aren't a very good student anyways. MightyNick, I don't know what your deal is by trying to make me look bad... but you are really making yourself look like an idiot.

I'm not. Try going to a top engineering school like Michigan, Northwestern, CMU, etc and you know what I'm talking about. Engineers have it THE HARDEST. I've rarely met an engineer with a solid 3.5 GPA at Michigan that parties on weekends.

No offence. I didn't realize you go to U Miami.

boo hoo, i'm sure your school is sooo much harder than everyone else's. Just another case of the "my school is so much harder than yours"

^^ The truth hurts doesn't it?

no... ucla

MightyNick, I'm not an engineering major, I have no interest in it.. I'm a biochemistry major.. and UMiami gives much better offers in undergraduate research. We all pick schools for a reason, and I'd much rather be in Miami.

So would I right now. ****ing April snow.

My university has a good engineering school, and I know plenty of engineers who have at least a little bit of a social life. Probably not as much as me, because I know my major isn't as hard as engineering, but I am friends with several engineers who are fun, sociable people who pull off pretty decent grades (all have above 3.0).

Well, I'm at Virginia Tech and we have a very well regarded and very hard engineering program, and you can still party on the weekends and maintain a solid GPA. Not necessarily every weekend but most.

Well, you can always forgo sleep( to an reasonable extent that is).

Time management, duh.

Do your work during the week and have fun on weekends. Even engineers can do that.

I don't see how people on here don't understand you can study on weekends and still party at night? Studying doesn't have to consume your life..
