What are your hobbies? Passions? Interests? Choose objects that represent them.

Mine: my flute ( = music ), a blank book and a pen ( = my love for writing ), and a foreign language dictionary ( = my interest in travel, culture, languages ).

Supplement essays are supposed to make you think and force you to kind of stretch your ability to write. These questions should all be ones submitted by last year's applicants, i think you guys are supposed to submit a question as well?

@Bver100, You are thinking of U of Chicago. Northwestern only has 2 (50 words or less) short answer questions.

My answers were very straightforward. They don't give you a lot of space and it's really their time to see who you are. Just be truthful and BE YOUR SELF. I really think that is the most important part of this whole process.

Oh, well last years app had either two 50 word answers, and a submit your own question thing. uchicago makes their perosnal statement the weirds question.
