My geometry teacher told us to look at an ironing board for homework and look at the bolt to see if the two triangles were congruent. I was wondering if anyone had any other funny homework assignments to share.

Want to know something funny? When administrators decide to give two-thousand kids the same assignment in response to a career day, ignoring input from teachers, and regardless of the level of learning of individual students, thus disrespecting an entire building by overriding the will of the populace so they show their skill as dictators -- I mean, community-builders. Funny.

The funniest hw I got was to watch TV. Seriously!

However it was to watch TV in Spanish for AP Spanish so...

I had to draw a cowboy for APUS. It was prior to learning westward expansion and was supposed to show how our stereotype of cowboys differed from the real thing.

I had to draw a picture of a farm for American Literature when we were reading The Grapes of Wrath.

I have to watch Jurassic Park over thanksgiving vacation for AP Lit.

We're going to write an essay comparing it to Frankenstein, so it's not that bad.

i had to watch the south park trilogy for ap english.

For AP bio I had to write an essay about why watching Young Frankenstein in class wasn't a waste of time (post-test). Obviously, it is a highly informative film that delves into the future possibilities of tissue regeneration and the consequences that may occur because of said discovery. (FYI, we watched it!)

For APUSH, we had to turn manifest destiny into a "recipe" of America. I called my dish "American Pie a la mode (because God said we deserve the ice cream)."

i had to write a love poem to ATP for AP bio. mine was to the tune of ABC by the jackson 5. it was horrendously corny.

Write a paper on anything related to Arthurian England based on Le Morte D'Arthur, The Knight of the Cart, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail (which my untenured teacher is having us watch in class).

Make a dictionary of slang terms in 7th grade.

I had to design a board game in health that would demonstrate the functions of the human genitals. mildly awkward.

The slightest to being ''funny'' would be watch hispanic soap opera's for my spanish course.

In English last year we had to make up eponyms for everyone in our class (there were only 10 students). It was a great way to insult or compliment people without being too offensive or causing confrontation.

In English last year we had to draw Hester Prynne down by the stream with Dimmesdale and Pearl... my teacher insisted that we could not fully understand the dichotomy of the two worlds existing in Hester's mind without drawing it. A woman by a stream. Literally.

I had to color in a picture of a column for AP Art History.

I had to make a travel brochure for fungus in AP Bio

"travel brochure for fungus"--now, that's funny!

My son's AP Euro teacher has the most creative assignments. Recently they had to make representative all-star basketball teams for various countries in the 18th c., complete with mascot and team cheer. My son's team (Russia) had the Peter the Great, a Cossack, a peasant, a priest, and I forget what else. It was a lot of fun for them, and I suspect the teacher does it because she likes to be amused as well.

my physics teacher tried to make us go to the grocery store and roll toy cars across a moving conveyor belt (intro to vectors). but only the kids who worked there tried it...
