Are there a lot of people from Greenville that go to Furman? What do they say about Furman being so close to home? Do they like it or do they wish they got away? On the weekends do students mostly stay on campus or do they go into town?

I can’t answer about students who are from Greenville - hopefully someone can - but a little more than 70% of the student body is from outside of South Carolina, so most are not. My youger D has 3 roommates, one from Texas, one from Illinois, and one from Maryland, and like most out of state students they remain at Furman except on breaks. There are things to do on campus on the weekends, but students also go into Greenville pretty often.

Furman has a full campus on weekends. As pointed out above most students are not from the surrounding area and do remain on campus with the exceptions of breaks. On weekends it is my understanding that the students can be found downtown at restaurants, at the park, at parties or even hiking Paris Mountain. The Swamp Rabbit Trail starts in Travelers Rest and makes its way to Falls Park in DT Greenville. Lots of students run or bike the trail. My student will say most of them are back in the library on Sunday afternoons.
