if quads are so much bigger doesn't everyone want to switch to a quad after the random assignment freshman year? is there like a lottery or something..

According to son, there is a lottery system in each dorm--don't know how it works tho. There just happened to be a quad available and he, his roommate from this past year and two other guys teamed up to get it. I know that there were some triples of freshman in son's dorm this past year and their room looked pretty large. I do think that the lottery obviously depends on year in school--with seniors pretty much getting all of the singles available.

That depends on what dorm you're in. Sorin has enough singles that anyone who wants one is accomodated.

The upside of quads is the three-room thing. The downside, at least in some of the older dorms is square footage. When my mother first saw my quad room in Lyons, she literally cried...it was that small. Morrissey and Howard are the same way
