Future Art Major?

Hey! I'm interested in adding Cornell into my list of possible schools. I'll be attending Cornell specifically as an art major and may decide on doing a dual degree later. But, I'll be honest, my stats at the moment aren't too great. What's holding me down? My test scores (1570 PSAT). Also, my old high school for my freshman and sophomore year did not permit me to take AP classes so i'm a little behind. Fortunately, I'll be taking 2 or 3 classes over the summer at the local Newberry College (hopefully they will be Spanish, a math and a biology) and I now attend a well known residential arts high school. A few of the other colleges i'm looking at include Yale, Carnegie Mellon and VCU Arts.

Well, that was probably an over extensive background, but now you have an idea where I stand. Here are my questions: How much will my portfolio weigh in to my Cornell arts application? How much will my mediocre test scores hurt me?

Also, how is the arts department at Cornell? I can't seem to find much information about it.
Thanks for the time!

Bump- anyone?
